The Gloucestershire Ukuladies
5 ukuleles !
A little bit about ourselves...
The Gloucestershire Ukuladies all belong to at least one, if not more of the Ukulele clubs, based in Cheltenham, Stroud, Gloucester, Churchdown and Northleach. We regularly perform with all these clubs as a mixed group. However in February 2013 the chance came to perform at a local Ukulele festival in the Forest of Dean as a ladies only group - the main aim was to give us girls a chance to perform on our own for a change and have a little fun along the way. Despite a few nerves, our performance was so well received that night, we decided to carry on and haven't looked back since..
Sometimes playing alongside other Ukulele bands and sometimes just on our own, we play a wide repertoire of well known songs and try to make them our own, through a combination of ever-expanding range of ukuleles, singing styles, actions and audience participation. A modest donation to our petrol funds is all we ask- although coffee and cake is always welcome!

For the past 5 years, Cheltenham has been the host to the Ukulele Festival of Great Britain - click here to see more about this amazing event.
Every year, in addition to the marvellous professional acts, the festival puts out a challenge to us amateurs to show what we can do. Videos are made, votes are cast and prizes are awarded - 2014 saw the Ukuladies win with their hawaiian version of the Andrews sisters song "Don't sit under the Apple Tree"!

If you've been playing for a while and think you'd like to join the Ukuladies, please do come along and join us for a rehearsal - no strings attached and no pun intended!
We meet on certain Wednesday evenings in St Pauls' church hall, Shurdington. We usually take a break in high summer and mid winter.
